Refunding/Voiding a check?

So the issue is that I was setting up a new bank account that I was waiting to hear back from, and at the same time, I had 680~ dollars in my Paypal, and I needed to pay my part of the rent(which I always give in cash). So because I needed the money but didn't know any other way to get it at the time, I asked for it to be delivered to me via mail in the form of a check.

I did receive the check, which isn't the problem. The problem is that before my check arrived, my new bank account coincidentally finished up, which I could now transfer my money from Paypal to. But now that money was in a check, which I did try to check at multiple stores, but all of them said I couldn't do so, for whatever reason. Such stores were Walmart, Kroger, and Publix.

On the terms and conditions of Paypal, it mentions this:

-which proves that getting the money back should be possible, while obviously voiding the physical check, but nowhere I've looked states any way to do so. Do I have to wait 180 days for the check to expire and for the money to go back into the account, or is there a faster way to do so, via calling customer service or something? I'd call, but it's the weekend right now, and the bot's not very helpful in this case.

You'll have to wait until Monday to call customer service to see if they can cancel the check and move the money back to your PayPal account.

To contact customer service for assistance:

Log on, click HELP on top menu, scroll down to click CONTACT US, and then scroll down to click CALL US or other contact options.

Call early, during business hours, west coast time to try to get a US rep.

Or contact via social media:

Facebook (US): https://www.facebook.com/paypal

Twitter (US): @AskPayPal

Personally I don't really see that much of a difference of depositing the check at the ATM/Bank teller or transferring it from PayPal. It takes 1-3 days total for the entire process to complete after PayPal marks the transfer as complete. And the money has to end up in the bank account anyway, its not like you're sending the money to landlord by PayPal. By the time you get in touch with PayPal to void check/refund and then request a withdrawal, the bank would have deposited your check already.

Kudos & Solved are greatly appreciated. 🙂
