Refund

I paid my friend some money, and he refunded it to me and I haven't gotten the money yet Its been over 6 hours now No emails nothing at all

i had bought an item and paid through paypal, money was refunded and 5/8/2020. on 12/08/2020 i received an email from paypal saying i have cash and the money had cleared. i cant seem to find this money anywhere or any sign of the money going to the buyer or being refunded. does anyone have any idea if the money would have gone straight into my bank account? thanks
