My polish paypal account does not recognise my n26 account

Hello,

I acknowledge that Paypal is country specific, I can only polish banks. But n26 is of no specific country but of the SEPA area which Poland belongs to despite its IBANs have the German country code (DE). N26 explains that it has a country code because banks of the SEPA area have agreed to do so (https://support.n26.com/en-gb/fixing-an-issue/account/what-to-do-if-my-n26-iban-is-not-accepted). I myself created the n26 account in Poland. I am guessing that Paypal does not accept my n26 account because it starts with DE. But shouldn't it treat n26 differently?

Hi @maroca,

I'm sorry that you're unable to add your chosen bank account to PayPal. Banks from Poland must be local to be added to the account. If the bank account is issued in DE, it would not be eligible for use with a Polish account. I'm sorry for the inconvenience.

Thanks for the confirmation @PayPal_Olivia,

Then I will create a German Paypal account for n26. Do you know if Paypal will eventually accommodate to online-only banks like n26, Revolut, Mozo, and SolarisBank which work in multiple countries?

Sincerely,

Mateo

Hi @maroca,

Thank you for your reply. Please note that a PayPal account may only be created in the country where you reside, in order to comply with the PayPal User Agreement. If you reside a significant portion of the time in Germany, then a German account would be appropriate. If you do not, creating an account in a country where you do not live could result in account limitation.

I'm sorry that I don't have any announcements to make regarding intent to support virtual banks. At present, they are not compatible with the PayPal system.
