What is paypal for?

So I really dont understand this service. If paypal automatically withdraws money for a payment from your bank account, why would anyone need to put funds into their paypal wallet? The whole thing seems redundant. I didnt realise that paypal would automatically do this so I transferred funds for a payment to my wallet.....meanwhile paypal had automatically taken the payment from my wallet, putting my bank account into negative dollars.

Now the money I needlessly transferred for said payment has been gone (pending) for 4 days, was supposed to be transferred to my wallet yesterday. SO im down some money that apparently is just floating in space for days and I am getting daily overdraw fees on my bank account for being in negative dollars...........Im about done with this service which has **bleep** me over more times than its helped.

Paypal saves you entering card or bank account information everytime you buy online.

It is also useful to non-business sellers eg on Ebay etc who can't receive online payments (especially funded by credit cards) any other way.
