Sorry, that bank is already linked to the maximum number of PayPal accounts.

My mother and I had a joint checking account.  She passed away in February.  I am now the sole owner of the account.  I'm trying to link the account to PayPal but continue to receive the message: Sorry, that bank is already linked to the maximum number of PayPal accounts. I have no idea if my mother ever linked this account to PayPal previously, and no way to ask her.  How would I go about getting PayPal to "un-linked" this account without having any information other than the account number?

You need to contact customer services to resolve any account specific issues.
Click help / contact bottom left of Paypal pages for options available for your country.

Or have you considered contacting Customer Service via Facebook or Twitter?
You can send them a personal message from their facebook or twitter pages.
It's: https://www.facebook.com/PayPal and @AskPayPal for Twitter.
