Problem with Invoice Payment and Account verification

I have received one payment through Invoice last week but I'm not able to access the money yet.

The invoice says that it would take up to 24 hours for the money to be processed as my account isn't verified. And it has been a few days now but the money still hasn't shown up in the balance. I can only see a 'Bill From XXX' in my recent activity (Only on the web, not in the app). I did receive an e-mail when the invoice was made and paid at the same time by the buyer. This is the first time I have used invoice on Paypal.

Another problem I'm facing is with the verification as when I request the deposits in my bank account, it redirects me back to the bank account page. I'm not receiving any deposits (It's been a week now). I don't see any other way of verifying my account to be able to receive that payment. My bank account details are correct as I have withdrawn amounts recently.

I tried contacting Paypal but seems like there isn't any other option than to use the help bot, which did not prove to be helpful at all.

Takes 4-6 business days for the deposits to show up in your bank account to confirm it.

However are you sure your invoice is PAID or waiting for YOU to pay as it may be a scam??

If it was marked as an invoice then its probably a scam doing the rounds as its been sent by a buyer and altered to look as though he has paid you.
Signs its a scam are >>>
its an invoice BUT sellers send invoices not buyers
marked as paid
marked as gift
says payment won't show in your balance for eg 24 hours
can't be chargedback.

Paypal NEVER tell you to send anything until the funds are showing in your paypal account balance.
Paypal payments are more or less instant.
Paypal will never tell you that a payment can't be subject to a chargeback if thats what scammers are still putting on invoices.

Hi,

Thank You for the response.

I've been doing more research after posting this thread. It actually seems like I have been scammed here. This was the first time I was using Invoice on Paypal and I feel very stupid right now.

It was a digital account that I was selling and turns out I transferred the ownership after seeing the Invoice. It seemed to me that I'd definitely receive the payment within 24 hours. Looks like the whole message was simply curated by the buyer for scamming. After doing some research online, looks like the person is actually a famous scammer all over the Internet.

Is there anything that I can do here? I have not lost money directly but did lose the amount equal to the cost of the good I was selling.

Sadly not if you have already given the buyer the goods.

A buyer has never paid until you see the funds in your balance and paypal never tell you to wait 24 hours for them, even if pending they would show in your paypal balance.

These scammers send invoices that make it look as if they have paid but why would a buyer send an invoice?

Yes, I do understand the concept of Invoices. I don't know why I did not look into it carefully at that time.

Though it's completely my own fault, it sucks not being able to do anything about it.

I have sent an e-mail to Paypal but that's only for reporting the person. I don't think there can be any solution to the lost goods now, especially since it was digital.

Thank You for your help.
