Paypal Blocking Legitimate Tutoring Transactions Like Chegg and others: This must stop

Hi everyone,

Paypal has been irrationally and randomly blocking transactions from tutoring websites that i've been using. They have blocked chegg.com and a few others.

Now, the site that I use is 100% legitimate and fine and infact, using the prepaid gift visa I had on my account went through perfectly. I use my account with my paypal balance and now the transactions are blocked. I have used my brick-and-motor bank account with this website in the past two years and have encountered problems. I have gotten the service that I need, and the transaction on the site is simply used to buy tutoring credits for a one-time transaction.

I have spoken to paypal and have explained this. They have, for no reason, decided that the "security" check of the transaction is not legit and needs to be blocked and that my only resource is to use another payment method. I have used another payment method, with my prepaid gift visa, through the paypal account and the transaction went through. These are one-time purchases, so there should be no issue of an unauthorized charge.

It makes 0 sense that paypal is now deciding to block the transactions with my paypal balance and give very little to no details why other than for "security" and "integrity". As a Web Designer and Programmer, I know very well about suspicious sites and am seasoned in this area.

The bank will white-list transactions for merchants. Paypal refuses to do this and is causing a dilenma which is negatively affecting my ability to get tutoring that I need, which is directly affecting what I need as a academia student. The tutoring that I have used is very good, and now, I can't even buy the credits I need to pay for the session for my tutor.

The service is randomly blocking online tutoring services and refuses to white-list when asked. I cannot wait for a 3-5 day business transaction to go through, back from my paypal balance when assignments are due.

The service I have mentioned above was fine yesterday and now, paypal has decided to block it.

This needs to stop. If a customer can verify that they have used a service and need it whitelist, paypal should be able to do that. I mentioned that I needed to speak to a manager, but was re-routed to the "security" and thatthere is nothing they can do.

These random false-flags are ridicolous and needs to be addressed asap. This is negatively impacting my ability to get online tutoring services.

Hello everyone,

You may have seen an article similar to this that I have posted recently yesterday. To update that, paypal is now blocking other online tutoring websites such codementor.io, prestotutors.com and others. These are two websites where one-time purchases were made and now the transactions are being blocked that not even the employees can help. I am being given security-issue as a reason but I know that obviously, that is not true.

The issue here is the algorithmn and that paypal, having detected that one online site was blocked has now decided to block other/all online transactions. First it was blocking one website yesterday when this decline chain happened. Then today, when I go to pay my tutor for prestoexperts.com it's blocking. Then, I go to pay another website and now it's blocked. This is not a security issue. This is paypal simply blocking transactions, period, and now is being deemed as "unfixable"?  I was able to use a prepaid gift card visa to the first merchant yesterday and the payment went through, using paypal.

Two legitimate websites that were just used yesterday are now transaction declined when used today. These declines are false-flag positives and is affecting my ability to send time-sensitive payments as a customer, to my merchants. My money is now being held up due to paypal's inconveniences, and I cannot wait 3-5 business days for a bank transfer.  I cannot use my money now as it now occupied on my balance. This has negatively affected my ability to get a tutoring service that I need, as an academia student, with tests and quizzes I need help on, and has caused unreasonable hassle. I will cannot allow paypal to affect my academia abilities because they cannot do their job as a company. I am being denied tutoring services.

Since yesterday paypal has been silently blocking one-time payment transaction with very poor reasons, and I can't see these transactions listed as block on my account. When have checked this on other sites as mentioned above, I get the same results. Instead, I get pre-script security-check responses that its for my protection when legitimate sites are being used here.  I cannot trust this service to do it's job as a money merchant when it's denying its own basic online transactions as an online money merchant/company.

If they are denying transactions, based on reasons so vague that employees don't even know other than security/shadyness, that is not a good excuse. I will not be recommending this service to other college students. Paypal has put me in a very inconvenient spot right now where the results matter.

One declined transaction should not set off a chain of other websites now auto-declined that were fine yesterday. This started with a one-time transaction for $9.99 that was declined by paypal due to security/integrity issues from the first rep. Then I was able to use my prepaid giftcard visa through paypal for another online tutor website that was fine and which the transaction went through. Now today, that same website is declined by paypal out of blue, no reason than the security-check script. So then I have tried yet another online tutor website that I have also used before, and now, it's declined by paypal too.  Transactions are being declined yet my account is also in good standing, with full balance, so there is no err.

2 legitimate websites all now declined by paypal. Any website I use now is being called a security/integrity issue, for one-time transactions with websites I have had positive experiences with and 0 issues. This is affecting my academia ability to get the services that I need. This issue needs to be investigated as soon as possible. I will not withdraw out more money than I already have when it is sitting, unable to use now, in paypal.

I have forwarded an email inquiry of this very problem to their department.
