When I buy something on line and use PayPal, things appear to work fine until I get to the PayPay page. It just hangs up, and the continue button never appears. I think that it has to do with this little donate culprit and the Safari ad Blocker. I don't know if PayPal stuck it in or if the vendor attached it as part of their purchase process. I sure do not remember authorizing PayPal to attach any donation options and I looked through them and did not see any that I cared to give to in the first place.
