I can't link my credit card

Paypal system told me that my mastercard had been linked to a different account, but I deleted that old account

Did you remove the card BEFORE you closed the account?

If not then its still linked on that old account.

Well you can't if you didn't remove it first from the old one.

Your best bet is to contact customer services and see if they can remove it for you.
