Who is at fault? Invalid Address. What are my options? Can I file a dispute?

Hi All,

I recently made a purchase of about AUD$177, through a seller whose website had no information on what delivery addresses were valid (e.g. PO BOX or Parcel Locker). As such, I had put a Parcel Locker address in for the order and IMMEDIATELY raised a enquiry/dispute on the order through their website under their category "Delivery Problem" asking them to contact me for an alternative address should there be an issue as I could not find any information on their site (FAQs or Delivery/Shipping Information page).

The order was dispatched on the day WITH the OPEN/ACTIVE enquiry and BEFORE they had replied stating that a parcel locker was an invalid address. They then said that the order could not be cancelled or brought back to them before it began its journey and suggested that I should make a new order with a residential address (which I did) because the first order will likely be un-deliverable as the address was invalid and would be returned to sender and assured a full refund when it did.

It turns out that the first order was actually able to be delivered to a Parcel Locker (I have it with me) and it would cost me over AUD$220 send it back (it's very heavy). They did offer up to 15% of the order total to help ship it back but this is obviously not enough, and are refusing to offer any other options (I have suggested a partial refund as now I have $400 of product that I did not originally intend to purchase).

The way I see it, I have done everything possible on my end as a buyer to make sure my address was valid and that it was an oversight by the seller to dispatch an order with an open enquiry/dispute AND not have any information or warnings that Parcel Lockers/PO Boxes were (apparently) invalid addresses.

Who is at fault and can I file a dispute with PayPal?

Thanks in advance!
