What happens if I close my account with a negative balance?

So my account just went to negative balance due to a terrible decision on paypal's part which I honestly don't feel I owe the money to. What happens if I close the account while in negative balance?

I don't think you will be able to do so, paypal does not allow you to close an account with a positive or negative balance on it.

But even if you did and refused to pay then paypal would pass the 'debt' on to a debt recovery agency to collect.
