Problems logging in (Not getting security code over the phone)

I can no longer log in.

I enter my user name and password.  Then I get the pop-up about " PSD2 Strong Customer Authentication" and a message saying I'll get a call on my home number, and to enter the 4 digit pin. but I NEVER get a phone call. No matter how many times I click "Try again". I have tried on different days, even different months. It never happens.

If I click on "Confirm a different way" it is exactly the SAME way. So that doesn't work

 

It has been like this for weeks.

 

I didn't use to care because I could still buy things on eBay, but I can't even do that now.

 

I can no longer use PayPal to pay for stuff. I have money in the account I can no longer access.

 

How do I get this problem fixed ?

Yes, I know it is bad form to reply to my own message, but...

 

Wow ! Following advice in messages here, I created a new account paypal.com and used "chat".

 

That resulted in the receipt of an 0800 (toll free) number. A short chat on the phone after a 30 sec wait, and the problem will be sorted in 48hrs. I have nothing to do apparently.

 

Of course, I'll believe it if/when I can log in on Thursday.
