I have been trying to get help with getting into my account for the last 8 days now. The issue is that paypal asked me to reset my password. I click the reset link and then it tells me to check my email for a 6 digit code. I put this code into the field and hit enter. then it tels me "almost there" we need to do a second verification, paypal wants to call me on a phone number that is no longer in service. There are no other options or links i can click. I contacted the online help service but after speaking to 5 different service representatives it comes down to that I have to call the paypal call center as there is no other way to solve my issue. Problem is that the paypal call center is COMPLETELY closed and they dont take any phone calls due to covid-19 safety. I cant get to my money to pay my bills and I already lost most of my revenue do covid-19. Paypal is pushing me over the edge by not taking any calls that can solve this live and death matter for my business. It is completely unreal that in a time like this, where people are relying on receiving payments more than ever paypal just abandons their customers and let them go bankrupt by not taking their responsibility. we live in 2020, where its very easy to redirect phone lines to their call center employees so they can work from home. I am in contact with the NY times because this is a story that need to be told. Shame on Paypal leaving small business owners helpless in this crisis.

Agreed. Sure, if you want to limit staffing, that's understandable, but I, too, am facing an issue that needs to be resolved by speaking to a person, as it is beyond the scope of the normal, automated system. However, Paypal seems content to use COVID as an excuse to rely purely on automation. I understand if, at first, they need time to shift everything to working at home, but it's been 3 months, and there is no reason a call center can't be run at or near 100% capacity from home. All it takes is shifting over to soft phones and setting up employee logins for said soft phones.
