Failed Transfer

So I tried transferring funds from my bank account to PayPal to correct a negative account balance and the funds were transferred out of my bank account and were scheduled to go through on the 13th. However today I was notified that the transfer failed for some reason, and the issue is that the money is not back in my bank account as I assumed it would be. Does anyone know if the money is meant to show up back in my bank account? I've tried calling both PayPal and my bank a couple of times but they just keep telling me to call each other.
