Cellphone number now required in order to be able to use paypal?

Must I now have a cellphone in order to be able to use paypal?  Why is not landline number OK but it does require an actual phone call.

You need a mobile phone to receive the 4 digit code text to access paypal accounts.

Thank you.  But this is a pain and not a solution I really want to use.  Think a home phone number would be just as useable.

I am quite happy to tell you that a landline is fine, not true of course but if its what you want to hear instead of the facts then happy to oblige.

Same here, I do not own a cell phone. I spend more than 2 hours today with Customer Service, ...useless. Yes, I changed the password 3 times while at it, like it could magically help. They're not even trained for cases like ours which shows how little consideration Paypal has for its customers. (for almost 15 years in my case)
