Account locked for multiple reasons

My account is on limitations right now because I had a outstanding balance on an older paypal account which was sent to a collection agency. I then received an email from PayPal saying I had to pay this balance and that’s why my account was locked. I then called the agency and paid the debt. My account still hasn’t been unlocked. My name is incorrect on the account I’m currently using and that has limitations. When I first made the account I didn’t think I had to put my real name stupidly and now it’s locked. Someone please help me assess this and help me figure out what my best move is next to get this fixed quickly as possible.

If the name on the account is not a name that was ever your legal name, it is not likely that a name change will be possible. Names can be changed on an account in the following circumstances:

A legal name change

A minor misspelling

And in the case of an account for a registered business, a change in the designated contact for the company.

Changing from a fictitious name (or, as in your case, a name unrelated to your legal name) to a legally recognized name is not something that is supported. If the account is not currently limited, you may wish to close the account and open an account using the correct information.

But I have a lot of money on hold and I can’t transfer it because PayPal has my account on limitations. What’s my next option?

There isn't one.

The funds in the account legally belong to the person named on the account and can prove its them by providing legal documents that prove the name on that document matches the name on that paypal account or has been legally changed to that name.

The funds sadly do not belong to you as you do not have that legal name.

Exactly, that person does not exist and so cannot access those funds.
