PayPal subscription buttons not working

I've had a subscription membership site for over 2 year using PayPal subscribe buttons. They worked perfectly for about 18 months and then in the later part of last year I had the occasional customer who said the buttons did not work for them, but I was still receiving new subscriptions from others.
Over the past couple of weeks I've had a surge in customers not being able to subscribe.
I've had the same buttons for 2 years and haven't changed anything on my website. I decided yesterday to try making one new button to see if that helped, but the same problem exists.
I've contact PayPal and have successfully been passed through 3 departments without getting an answer and now no reply for 24 hours.
Has anyone else experienced this issue and knows of a fix I could try please?
