PayPal express checkout won't connect to Shopify "too many redirects"

Hello,

I've been trying to fix this for a sold 3 hours now and I can't get it right.

I click activate Paypal express checkout in Shopify.

then I get redirected to the PayPal sign-in page.

Then sign in and click Allow PayPal to connect your account with Shopify.

everything works fine up until this point but when I click agree and connect it loads for about 1 minute and then an error message comes up from the browser "too many redirects occurred trying to open this page"

I tried a solution that I found on this forum which was to revoke Shopify API access in PayPal then reconnect but it didn't work.

I Have tried on multiple browsers and devices including my phone with mobile data, cleared my history, cookies and everything else. I've probably tried 30 times now with no luck.

I have two other Shopify stores connected to this PayPal account with express checkout and they had no setup issues.

I live in Australia.

If anyone knows the solution to this I would be very grateful if you share it.

Thanks

Hey matt,

It's brad again just off a new account as i deleted my old one to try and integrate a new one with Shopify. Just letting you know, creating a new account worked and i'm now connected to Shopify. I also noticed that there was a button on my Paypal account to connect my account to Shopify. I don't think I pressed it on my previous account and that could be the reason why yours isn't working. If you want to connect your old account to Shopify try logging in to your Paypal Business Account and going to Tools (Up the top), then Business Setup. Scroll down and press "Offer Paypal checkout on your website". Choose Option A, and then click "Follow their integration guide". This will just take you to a page to integrate it but just ignore that and then try integrate it again as normal.

Hopefully this helps.

Hey there,

I've been having the exact same problem and have tried everything you have tried too. I contacted both shopify and paypal support but still no luck. I also live in Australia, I wonder if that has something to do with it? Did you ever find a solution to the problem?

Thanks,

Brad

Hey Brad,

I also contacted PayPal and Shopify but they couldn’t fix it. They said that they are working on it though.

I didn’t solve the problem properly but I did manage to connect my dads PayPal account to the store. (I had to turn it into a PayPal business account first) and for some reason his account worked fine. My dad wasn’t using the account much so I control it now. Maybe try opening a new account? So it’s an annoying solution but it will work short term.

Good luck and let me know if you find the proper solution,

Matt

You're the man Brad!

Somehow that actually worked and I was able to link my old PayPal account to all my stores 🙂

The new account I linked was starting to hold my money because it is a new account with no history so it wasn't a sustainable solution.

Thanks for the help, appreciate it.
