Hi I sold some old action figures on Facebook and was promptly paid via PayPal. I posted the items with Royal Mail in a jiffy to France BUT didn’t use a tracking service. What if item goes missing and buyer wants refund? I’ll be out of pocket and goods.

You don't have to send trackable but its at your risk and not the buyers who would win any dispute for non receipt of item.
