I also got this email. I got locked out of my own account (this is my husband’s account) years ago but as far as I know the only debt I had to them was through PayPal credit which has been on auto pay. The payments have come out every month without fail and my balance was decreasing too according to the emails I was sent. So why send it to a collector when it clearly still paying it off?

i just got this email as well. I haven't used my old account in over 5 years which is no longer open anyway. lol. i had a business debit master card but it was tied to my account balance. if I had no money I bought nothing. so I am left confused why I suddenly got this email as well. i have no clue what it could be about. I guess I will have to call them tomorrow.

did you figure this out? im stressed it will ruin my credit.. they dont even answer at the MRS. Paypal is super shady for this. They threw me under the bus when i called and told them about my situation. They started reciting their rights and what not and then hung up?? They basically sold all our accounts to these brokers.

Got the same thing. Old account I was locked out of years ago that I completely forgot out. Support isn't interested in taking payment to resolve it, they are trying to kick me to the collector. Thing is I wentt through bankruptcy 2 years ago, so this will not play out well for them if i need to get lawyers involved

yes support also kicked me to the curb and sounded very suspicious. They have sold our accounts to these brokers so they are in control of our debt it seems. wtf is wrong with you paypal. You give us notices we have negative balances yet we cant even access our accounts to pay the fee?? it makes no sense to me at all.

Exactly. I didn’t know I had debt. I don’t know the amount and I’ve been locked out of that account for 10 years!!!! Almost 11. How am I supposed to pay a debt I don’t know about? I’ve had my current PayPal for 11-12 years and never an issue. Can this weird company access any other PayPal accounts we have? Cause if so I need to move assets.

I got the same email. Did someone purchase PayPal in the last year or so? They don’t feel like the same company. Their app is total garbage, and rather than focusing on fixing it they’re always busy looking for new reasons to raise their fees again. Their customer service is laughable, and now this? They send out a mass email to anyone they feel owes them money with the name of some company that no one has ever heard of, and no explanation as to WHY or what we’re supposed to do? They KNOW that none of us have access to the accounts they’re hassling us about, which means their “opt-out” is a joke, and is only there so they can check off a legality. I’d really like to find another way to pay online. This is just infuriating. Now I’m afraid to leave my money in my account. I’m living on fumes, and this is making me very nervous. Can they just take whatever they think we owe them? Several years ago, I was scammed on that account by someone I did design work for. This **bleep** decided to add more work on top of what I had already sent him AFTER he paid me, and when I told him “no” that the extra work was not part of the agreement, he reversed his payment which put the account into the negative! I contacted them to fight it, then sent them all the proof I had. They froze the account, and I never heard another word about it. So now, seven or eight years later, like everyone here, I get this weird email?

yup, im thinking of moving my money aswell. After this i have lost all trust. Well we should start to lose all trust for banks really... they may all turn on us and collapse. Cash for now may be the way to go in terms of saving... although i just dislike money in general....
