What happens with my paypal.me link if i delete my account?

I want to get rid of my paypal.me link but i found out that you can't just change or delete it. But what if i just delete my account and later make a new one with the same email, will the paypal.me link be gone?

Thank you for your post in the PayPal Community Forum! I'm sorry that there's a misunderstanding regarding the PayPal.me link, and I'll be happy to help!

While it was true initially that the link could not be changed, it is now possible to do so. You will need to contact Customer Service in order to request the change. Please click Contact at the bottom of the PayPal website to see your contact options. They let them know that you would like to change your PayPal.me username.
