Hello,
am located in UK, London. I have been opening an USD current account (with an UK Bank) to keep my USD payments I get via Paypal in USD.
I have been adding my London bank account (USD bank account!) to Paypal. And now I want to verify the bank account. I do get the message: "Click Continue to complete setup of bank funding. PayPal will make two small deposits (less than £1.00) to your bank account. Confirming these amounts ensures that you own this bank account."
So the problem ist Paypal wants to verify with GBP, but that won't work with my USD bank account!!!
How can I now verify my USD current account (with an UK Bank)?

Hi Max1980,
unfortunately it can't be done right now. In the UK PayPal withdraws and charges all bank accounts in UK Pounds (this is the same for all markets, they can only withdraw in the local currency). If your bank does not accept GBP then you won't be able to use it on our system i'm afraid.

Hi PayPal_john,
thanks for the answer. So is there a workaround? I want to keep USD in USD, that's all.
Can I register with Paypal US and use my London USD-Account?

No, that wouldn't be possible as the bank is a UK bank. There's no real workaround that I can think of. The only non-UK bank you can put on a UK account is a US based bank, and then it can only be used for withdrawing funds. Keep in mind this is a bank based in the US, not just a bank with a USD currency assigned to it.

I have the same problem. I suppose it would be possible to add a USD credit card to the funding options. This works with EUR.

So you can get money INTO your bank account through the credit card you suppose?
Would be worth a try!
What's your setup? You have an USD account in UK as well?

Well you can charge a card in USD to make a payment. You can't add funds to your balance with a card. Cards are something of a closed loop on PayPal, you can make a payment using them and if it's refunded it's sent back to the card but you can't withdraw money to them or add funds to your PayPal balance using them.

Ye I was looking to set up a USD paypal account too here in the UK as I do all my business online and get paid for it through paypal in USD but when I get it they convert it in to sterling and then when I pay for things (always in USD) I loose out again with another conversion. I would love to know if ther is a way round this.

If you are like me and you do most of your PayPal transactions in USD then you can set up your account with USD as your primary currency:
Yyou can set up another currency in Paypal. Here's the steps you need to follow - Click Merchant Services (top row) > Manage My Money > Manage Currencies Add or Edit > Select New Currency (US Dollar) > Add Currency. Then you can select US Dollars and make them the Primary Currency .
Hope that helps.
