assuming the receipt shows where the item was being sent then yes you will be covered for seller protection against fraudulent payments.   What you won't be covered against is non-receipt cases, i.e. a legitimate payment where the buyer opens a claim or chargeback stating they did not receive the item. ... A payment can't be reversed twice, you might be reading the transactions incorrectly.   The best thing to do is find the original payment and see what the status is, is it 'reversed', 'refunded' or 'completed' ? Try reading the Refund FAQ thread as well   hope that helps and get back to us if you're still confused 🙂 ... View more

Well you could look into the Distance Selling Regulations and take it that way?   From PayPal's point of view if you open a not as described claim we're going to look at what you originally purchased versus what you received so if specifically orded the foam version and didn't receive it then this would be considered a valid claim. We'd provide you with their address to return it to and once it's been received back we'd issue a refund for the original payment. ... View more

Have you told your bank that the payment was unauthorised? Shown them the e-mails you were sent confirming this?   It's a bit of a contentious issue because PayPal refund you any payments made and any of our own charges but we can't refund you someone else's charges. Often the bank say that it's not their business if someone got into your PayPal account, as far as they're concerned the payment was authorised. ... View more

If you go to your profile on your account, go to banks and click on 'enter deposits' there should be an option to resend them on that page. If there isn't then the simplest thing to do is to remove the bank you already have on the account, re-add it and star the process from scratch.   Even if you did have the two deposits it's pretty unlikely that your bank would still have the Direct Debit still open with PayPal. ... If your bank is still active on your PayPal account contact your bank and see if they can re-setup up the cancelled DD, sometimes they can, sometimes they cannot. If they can then you can continue as normal from that point on. If they cannot then you should remove the bank from your PayPal account, re-add it back on and then confirm it from scratch again.   If your bank has been removed from your PayPal account then you will need to contact customer services and request they re-activate the bank. Once it's re-activated you will have to add it back on and set up a new Direct Debit through confirming the bank, as above.   I know that's a bit complex but I hope it makes sense! ... View more

They have asked me to resolve this but I can't until I get my new bank card through (5-7 days) what does this mean for me? will ebay or paypal close my account?   No but you might want to contact eBay to see if they're willing to wait for the money. Worst case scenario i'd imagine they'd but your eBay account on hold until the funds are paid.   I also have a current dispute going through the paypal system, if the company choose to agree to a partial refund will I be ok to get the money from my paypal account once I have got my new card?   Are you the seller? If you don't have the funds in your PayPal account the money would be considered owed, you would be brought negative. As long as you pay it in a reasonable amount of time there would be no untoward further problems with your account. ... View more

my card is expiring and I tried to change the details but my bank has changed the last 4 numbers of my code and there is no provision for this what can I do to keep the account going as it will not accept the new number   if it's got a new number it should be added to the account as a new card. What happens when you try and add it as a new card?   I am having the same problem.  I tried to add the new card but it wouldn't let me!!!! so I contacted my bank who advised that Paypal were applying for a payment of a few £££ for the pleasure!!!!!!    Is this normal procedure, that Paypal charge you for updating your credit card when the expiry date is up??? Anyone know????   When you add or edit a card a temporary charge of 1 dollar is processed to check if the card exists, it is an authorisation charge and is a common method used by many companies to help verify a card. It will not be a completed payment and will remain on your card for a short time showing a "hold" or "pending" status. ... View more

Why can't the bank account provide you with your old card number?   The reason it is asked for is because it is information that is not available elsewhere on the website. If a spoofer already has access to your e-mail address then asking to verify an e-mail won't be any more secure. In addition, it's only asked for if it is marked as still still active on our system, i.e. it has not expired and we have not been informed that it has been cancelled. ... Your issue sounds different actually, you have actually submitted the Direct Debit form, the previous poster hadn't done this yet.   I'd say the major issue here is waiting for the banks to process the payments, bearing in mind it takes about 3 working days (often 4 according to quite a few people) for the deposits to appear and the fact that we've had a lot of bank holidays recently I say they simply haven't appeared in your bank balance yet. ... are you getting an error message when you try and delete it?   I would suspect that you have a card set up with your old UK address, you cannot remove an adress if it is linked with a card billing address. You should either update the card or remove it from your account. You will then be able to remove the address. This can all be done on your profile. ... View more

I sold something on ebay for £14.25 but the payment has been put on hold by the buyer (even though they only paid 2 days ago) but why am I showing a negative balance of £14.25 because the amount I actually receive after paypal take their overpriced 68p fee is £13.57.   If the payment is placed on hold the full payment is placed on hold. It's a  bit messy I admit, if the payment is reversed then then fee is reversed as well.     I also think paypal should charge a flat percentage fee rather than 25p + percentage because on smaller items like cd's and dvd's, say you sell for £1 after ebay sting you with their fees (listing and fvf) paypal heavily sting you considering the amount involved   You should look into maybe setting up a micropayments account?   PayPal offer a separate fee structure for Verified Business/Premier merchants who only accept small UK to UK payments. The fees are 5% + 5p per transaction compared to 3.4% + 20p which is the standard rate. For Cross-Border payments you will be charged 6% + 5p. It is most financially beneficial to you if you accept payments under £9 for accounts with the Micropayment fee structure. For this reason it may be advisable to have a separate account for the small or ‘Micropayments’.   Here’s how you can sign up for micropayment pricing:   Go to our micropayments website at https://micropayments.paypal-labs.com Click ‘Signup.’ Select the appropriate country. Click ‘Login here.’ Enter your PayPal account password and click ‘Log in.’ Allow 2 business days for the micropayment pricing to take effect.   Note:   Micropayment pricing applies to all transactions regardless of the transaction amount. For example, with micropayments pricing, it would cost 25p to receive a £4 payment and it would cost £1.05 to receive a £20 payment. ... View more
