How to verify if a package has been actually mailed

I made a purchase off ebay on Nov. 20 and they received their money within 2 hrs of me making the payment. Then they put a tracking note on pay pal saying it was mailed (or making me think that by putting a Tracking note  on the money line where I paid them on Pay Pal. I;m new at all this, and when I clicked on the word Tracking it stated that just b/c the merchant has notified the Post Office does not mean the package has actually been picked up and or mailed. Well this make me think that they put this work Tracking out there just to make me think they have mailed it, when actually they have not...... And now today is Dec 5  and I still have not received anything yet from them. So, Monday on Nov 1 I sent  them a message concerning all this and on Dec 1 they responded with they had mailed the package on Nov 20th (which on Pay Pal the above info sounded funny)  and they were going to notifiy the P.O. and get back with me when the P. O. gets back with them in about 2 hrs. Well, today is the 5th and still have not heard nothing. The person stated they would send my money back if package could not be found, but I think that they will do this and keep the item to resell later, b/c they did not get anywhere near what they wanted for it. The buy it now was $75.00 and I purchased it for $.99 plus s/h = 14.94. I just want to know is there a way to know for sure through pay pal that a package has actually been shipped or pickedup by the P.O.??? And what do you think about all of this???? I looked back at the reviews and there were about 5 in 35 that people did not recive their packages at all and could not get a refund or anything from the merchant????? his score was 92%. HELP!!!!! I need help and any ideas b/c i;m new at ordering on ebay and this is first time I have ever had a problem................ I have probably purchased a total of 10 items total and if I get burned on this , i will never do it again..... thanks for any help and ideads you can giveme..,,, BS.

I know this isn't any help to you... well maybe.

I am in the same situation, paid $95 for an item on ebay when the buy it now was $145. I believe my seller also has not shipped the item. The tracking number I was provided with just says "electronic tracking info received" which does not mean that the post office is in or has been in posession of the package. Won and paid for the item on Dec. 3rd, it was supposedly shipped on the fourth but there has been no activity and all i ever get is "electronic tracking info received."

I filed a dispute and escalated to a claim but paypal says the item has been shipped!!! I'm not so confident though, it was shipped priority (2-3 days) and it has been almost two weeks since "shipping." The only thing I've found to do is wait for paypal to realize the item isn't coming in and hopefully in the meantime the seller will not get the money for the item.

Do I want my money back? not necessarily, I really just want the item I bought in the condition described and identical to the picture on ebay.

if I can't have that though I definitely want my money back.

the best thing you can do is file a claim before it's too late, i think you only have 30 days from the date of the financial transaction.
