ebay stated dispute policy conflicts with paypal practices

BEWARE: A buyer can get a refund for "buyers remorse, "I paid too much" .  The buy is reimbursed the full amount of purchase + shipping and the seller is out the ebay and paypal fees.

I had a buyer purchasetwo identical items, on two seperate auctions, on ebay.  The buyer got into a bidding war with another bidder......and ran up a set of  William Sonoma x-max mugs to $150.00.  Yes, I was excited.  as these mugs were on ebay selling for 30 to 40 dollars.  Then, he did it again! Paying $160.00 for an identical set of mugs. got into another bidding war with the same person over a second set of mugs. I was getting suspicious.  I didn't think I was getting paid. I got paid thru paypal and shipped the items. The buyer filed a dispute claiming the items were not as described.  I have been selling on ebay for 10 years with no complaints.  The item was clearly described down to the marerial it was made of.  The description included photos with close-ups. I read the paypal seller protection and well as the buyer protection policy -I felt the I had done nothing wrong and escalated it to a claim.  I spoke to a rep from paypal. "she told me that they will always side with a buyer in a dispute for item not as described. Paypal reversed the charges and kept my fees.  I am out $30.00 because a buyer paid to much.  When I received the tiems back. It was obvious that he never opened the box.  The packaging tape, with my logo was intact.

A learning experience for me.  As a result ,I am selling my expensive items elsewhere. If I had a buyer return my viking ovens $5000.00 because of buyers remorse.  I am out  $500.00 As you know, ebay and pay-pal take 10% in fees.
