Temporary Hold?

I recently sold a gift card on Ebay, received Payment from the Buyer & was planning on mailing out the gift card shortly after. Until I received an email from Paypal saying my funds were being temporarily held and asking me to log in to PayPal in order to resolve the problem. They mentioned if I have not mailed the item yet, to not do so until the case was closed. So I messaged the Buyer explaining what happened and that I'm waiting to hear back from Paypal. This was 4 days ago.  Still nothing. So I researched on the Paypal website what I could do to hurry things along a bit in order to get my funds released & their FAQ section suggested if they can confirm the item has been delivered or if the Buyer leaves me positive feedback then the funds will be released. Seems contradictory to me. Can someone help me with this? Do I mail out the gift card or wait until I hear from Paypal?

Thanks All.

There is a problem with the buyer's payment... you should wait to hear from PayPal.

The information you read about funds being released when the item is delivered or when the buyer leaves positive feedback is referring to the 21-day eBay Item Hold Policy which is a completely different situation.

Wait for PayPal's instructions... don't ship until PayPal tells you to ship.

Did this email ask you to use a link WITHIN the email to log into Paypal?  If it did, it's a fake.  Even if it didn't, I'd be suspicious and suggest that you forward it to spoof@paypal.com and ask them if it's real.

NEVER use a link in an email to go to your Paypal account, by the way.  Lots of guys out there trying to steal passwords.

This isn't about the 21-day hold.  If the email is real, this is a case where they suspect the buyer has committed fraud.  Don't ship anything until Paypal tells you to.
