Refund completed, but put on Temporary hold. How long is this wait?!

I recently purchased some high end headphones off of ebay. I won the bid on the 12th and immediately paid with paypal as soon as the auction ended. I paid through the supposed "instant transfer" and the funds were deducted from my bank account.
The seller did not ship the item right away as I request, and then on the 15th I received an e-mail from Paypal stating that my money has been refunded. I was fine with that originally until I looked at my account later that night to see that although the refund said "complete", another transaction as a "temporary hold' was placed on the money right after the refund was done.
The note says to wait 3-5 business days for your bank to clear the original payment, which I full understand. Although I paid "instantly" with my bank account, the payment didn't technically clear until the 14th. So taking that into account, if it cleared the 14th I should already be looking at my refund.
If I take into consideration that the refund may have actually been processed and refunded on the 15th, instead of being processed on the 14th and posted on the 15th, then I would still have received my money today the 18th. The 4th-5th day are always buffer zones to cover themselves in rare cases, I've seen a bank transaction that has exceeded the three day limit to clear.
And of course I know nothing is going to take place on the weekend, so when am I ever going to receive my OWN money?! Which brings up my second question; from what a representative told me on the phone earlier the money will only be posted to my paypal account after all this waiting. Am I going to have to turn around and wait another 3-5 days to transfer this back into my back account from paypal or is it going to be placed back. I read a note saying it would go back to the card, but I'm not too sure about anything I read on here anymore.

This is like what happened to me this week as well. I bought something on ebay paid right away with paypal linked to my bank account. The seller contacted me and said he was having trouble with paypal and refunded my money. I see the refund on my statement, however it has a temporary hold as well. It says 5 business days, well today would have been the 5th business day and still no money. I am getting worried and I need this money. What is going on?!?!
its been 5 business days!!!!

I'm beginning to get worried. I've seen several different people online claim that they have had money put on temporary holds for very long periods of time and I've also seen people claim they months have gone by without the issue being resolved.
I really want this issue to get taken care of as soon as possible, it is the holiday season after all and time is of the essence. Having a few hundred dollars sitting in limbo is a very frustrating thought when you're out frantically trying to buy last minute gifts.

I don't understand this whole thing myself. I am waiting payment for several items i've sold and shipped on ebay. I'm 100% feedback and never had a previous problem with this "temorary hold" issue. Delivery confirmation shows item delivered but payment still on hold. Why am I not told this before I shipped my items.PayPal has never sent me any notice on such a thing, nor has ebay.(It's prolly buried in fine print/) Is this something the buyer initiates ? why is some payments sent and some on hold for the same item, same price and same day???

Sounds like the sellers refund bounced and was resubmitted a second time. I would call paypal Tuesday morning if it doesn't clear Monday night
