I recently sold my iPad to an eBay account which is apparently a US one. However, when I received payment (from a confirmed and verified address) I noticed the Paypal email was different from the eBay account. When I asked why, it turns out the buyer lives in South Korea and this is a Korean shipper in the US who will receive the goods and forward to the buyer in SK. The buyer only has 10 feedbacks (all positive) for similar electronic items and says this is the only way he can get hold of an iPad. Am I being over cautious or does this sound like a scam? The shipper faxed me a recent utility bill which shows they are a legitimate concern.

There is always a 50/50 chance of getting ripped on any transaction. I believe Korea is banned from having the devices (similar to the middle east and ps3's/xbox 360's because of what they can do with them). If the package is shipping inside the U.S. to a confirmed address I would think you would be ok but only PP and the credit card companies can ever judge the outcome.
Good Luck

Oh, no no no no no.
You have to ship to the Paypal address to get any seller protection, not the ebay address.
And, if it's a transaction, where the selling price +shipping is over $250.00, you have to get SIGNATURE CONFIRMATION, not just DC.
Shipping overseas will cost a small fortune.
There's an additional complication. Some of these overseas shipping companies aren't very good at receiving stuff. There's a company called, "Green Tea Pass" or something like that that is just horrible for doing chargebacks.
This is what I would do;
1. Refund the buyer.
2. Tell him he must add this shipping company as an additional shipping address in his Paypal account and then re-pay.
3. If he refuses, report him as an Unwelcome bidder. The policy on that is here;
http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/unwelcome-buying.html
and I believe the report link is the "report a problem with this transaction" link on your "leave feedback" page for this transaction.
I'd take a neg rather than lose the phone for this.
