I'm new to this. I would like to set up a merchant account/ shopping cart. I went through the trial, which was easy enough. However, I am not clear if I need to create HTML code for every single item/size/color I want to offer for sale online.
You can generate item buttons with a different price for each selection, choose from multiple colors and sizes. Check out the various examples and tips on this web site. You will get lots of ideas.
Note, you can also use the online button creator however, it does have it's limitations. You can find some good starter info here.
