From Now On I Am Not Going To Ship Items If Funds Are On Hold.

Because the shipping costs are included in the funds.  If I have no access to the funds cause of the hold, then I have no access to the money the buyer pays for shipping.

I AGREE!! I just got my first payment on Paypal, and the payment (and shipping) is on hold for an indefinite period of time.. that is just not right in so many ways! I refunded the payment, and told her to please send a check.. I even said I'd ship the item immediately, and trust her for the payment..

I think you have to be at a level 60 (is that right?) before they start releasing your funds.. for all my sales, I'm going to tell buyers very plainly in the description that I accept checks only.. I have 7 listings so far, 5 have sold, and in all of them I wrote, "Free Shipping" or "10% off your winning bid" when you pay by check.. but I'm just going to make it mandatory until I have enough positive feedback that I can trust Paypal to release my money to me!

I am very fed-up with the holds policy too. With one or two exceptions, PayPal's customer service hasn't been very helpful on the subject. normally they just drone on about something completely irrelevant; if you can get past the non-English speaking call center employees with no power to resolve anything. I think it is insulting to be treated as though I am a thief or fraud and have MY money held for up to three weeks after PP takes their fee immediately. I am fronting the item, doing the physical sale, fronting the shipping and possibly getting **bleep**ed over by the buyer and thus out an item and the money...and I am supposed to be happy with it-what kind of customer service is that?

Now eBay is putting holds on what I can list.  They state that I can only list a certain # of items in a category becuz my rating isn't high enuf?  While when you are a start up then of course your rating isn't going to b high.  If they would read the feed back that shows the type of quality and the comments that you are getting they would realize hey this person is a good seller.  He is just the type of seller we want on eBay.  You know who is getting scammed here is all of us.  We are paying a  lot of money to eBay/papal to sell an item and their service to us is getting worse, not better and costing more not less.  Things should cost us less than what we are paying.  When we look at what we are paying it is a lot of money for what it should be.  All the rules and listing rules and buying rules and selling rules...

IT IS TIME FOR A NEW COMPANY THAT PUTS EBAY & PAPAL & CRAIGSLIST OUT OF BUSINESS.  TRUST ME I'M LOOKING INTO IT.  IT WON'T TAKE MUCH TO BE A BETTER COMPANY THAN EITHER OF THESE 3.

THANKS EVERYONE FOR YOUR COMMENTS.  HOPEFULLY SOMEONE AT THESE COMPANY'S MIGHT REALIZE THAT THERE IS A GROUND SWELL HAPPENING AND THEY MIGHT READ THIS AND SEE WHO UPSET PEOPLE ARE GETTING FOR BEING SCAMMED BY THE VERY SOURCE THAT WE ARE PAYING...

And they have a reason for it all...OHO ABOUT JUST BEING A DISHONEST BUSINESS.  THEY ARE PUNISHING THOSE WHO ARE TRYING TO BE HONEST AND DOING RIGHT.

(Caps for Emphasis) I have been a member on ebay for a few years and at one point began selling and received 100% Positive feedback on all items sold. I took a long hiatus from selling here, and then when I returned to sell my first item after awhile, I come to find that this LUDICROUS policy was put into effect and I too am now having my funds placed on hold DESPITE having been an ebay and paypal member for years, and having developed a track record as an excellent seller/buyer. Is THIS the thanks we get for having worked so hard to satisfy our customers and having established an excellent track record? Only to return to find that because you have not sold in 12 months ALL of that track history means NOTHING now, and as such we are now being PENALIZED due to inactivity by having all that work wiped out so that they can then put our feedback at ZERO and thus then enabling them to freeze your funds due to THERE erasing your score? Ain't THAT a slap in the face for having done right by your customers! It's outright rediculous! Hey listen, I don't care if it's been 20 months, NOTHING should erase the fact that when you WERE selling, you sold with integrity and your transactions were completed with every effort to make the customer happy. So when you look at it for what it REALLY is it's like this " o.k. lets figure out as many ways to look for reasons to justify taking peoples hard earned money, and lets "reward" our sellers who have done so well in the past, who don't KEEP making us money by ERASING their feedback scores, so that we can then add insult to injury by when they return to sell, guess what? You have been FURTHER rewarded for providing such good service in the past by us FREEZING you money?"  Yeah....people are REALLY gonna put up with that kind of treatment. I can't wait till the stockholders kick that "braniac" out cause his enacting this policy will CRIPPLE their earnings when everyone bails out of using paypal OR ebay, so they will be crippling both of their own entities with one blow of a stupidest and counterproductive greed based policy.

I for one have been shocked and caught by surprise when I saw all this happening to the point that I am so disgusted by it all that I listed my first listing and was going to return to selling on ebay, but NOW after THIS? NO WAY will I list ONE more new item. I sell to get paid, not to get shafted. And yes I agree completely, that the way to counter this policy is to NOT ship until you are paid and to make the customers aware of the fact that it is not YOU who are shafting the customers, but it is PAYPAL and ebay who are, by sending them a screenshot of  the screen showing their name on the transaction paid window, HIGHLIGHTING the fact that paypal TOOK their own fees, and showing their funds are frozen and unacessible to the seller, and thus ruining it for the buyer and seller by making for an unpleasant transaction, that will end up in constant sales being refunded, and they end up losing their damned fees anyway. I surely will not ship an item from any point of sale venue until I am paid. To do so would be foolish, and unwise business sense, due to the abuse of the seller in having lost a product and not having gotten paid for it, having to shell out money to ship it, the customer has already PAID for this shipping, and the way I see it, if they paypal wants their customers to go through unpleasantries caused by their own policies, then hey it's on them not me.

I am thinking it is time to go too the news sources ie papers,TV, internet etc and let everyone in on how ebay/paypal are shafting the very people that support them. As well as how much they are making by "holding" our money in interest alone

I agree.  This is ridiculous.  They want me to "call back"... (and do battle with their computer again to get someone to talk to me) AFTER the buyer has posted positive feedback...  This is too much trouble... I sold my item, I shipped it using PayPal's preprinted label system... and now they want me to wait three weeks for my money....

Just the other day I posted an item on Craigslist for sale.  Someone responded that they would pay me via Paypal and give me 60.00 for shipping to an International address.  Alarm bells started ringing in my head just as soon as I heard shipping over seas.  Next thing I know I get an email from this person stating that she has put 210.00 into my Paypal account and that the funds are being held until I ship the device to her neice.  When I saw the shipping address was Nigeria that was a show stopper for me.  I have sent all the emails from this person in my gamil account to PayPal last week and I have not heard boo from them about whether this is legitimate or not.  My gut tells me this is a scam so I am not shipping the device.  I also have not seen one thing in my PayPal account telling me that the funds are being held but will be available.  That is another thing that tells me this is a scam.  I got another email today supposedly from the PayPal legal team saying that this person has filed a legal complaint.  OMG.  Whatever people... LOL...
