PP asking for shipping details to release payment...

Hi, new here but long-time PP user. Selling an item to a person in Denmark. Buyers says he sent payment to PP where upon I received an email from PP asking for the item's shipping details. Monies would appear in my account when those details had been received by PP, from me. Never had this happen before. Is this ok or is it a scam?

Thanks

Sounds like a common scam.

Paypal may hold payments but they still  show as pending in your account.

Check the way the email is written, do they address you by name as paypal will write Dear John Smith etc your full name.

HI, thanks for the reply. There is no form of address ie the email seems generic. Will assume it's a scam.

Hi there,

I have had the same problem today, the guy has supposed to have paid an extra £400 into my paypal account & I'm meant to pay the shipping company through western union the £400 & I'd get It all from paypal, but there was nothing on my paypal account in pending transactions, It's a definate scam I'd say although the E-mails allegedly from paypal are very convincing but when I went Into my paypal account & put the transaction number In It could'nt find it,so that got the alarm bells ringing & the 2nd thing was the guy buying it was from Nigeria & he was buying It for family In England .

Why cant paypal shut these guys down, in the E-Mail allegedly from service@paypal I just clicked on the show details button & the real sender came up, it was owen.olaf@googlemail on behalf of paypal, Ive a feeling thats not how paypal work, so thats a little tip for you If you aint sure just click on the show details

Paypal can't shut them down as they are not using a paypal account.
