I got scammed

hey i have been talking to this guy for a couple weeks now so i trusted him.we had been discussing the item i was going to recieve he said that i should send the money as a gift so he recieves the full amount of money or something but my paypal dosent have gift so i sent it as payment owed.after i sent him the money he logged of skype and hasnt talked since.i know he scammed me.is there anyway i can get my money back

I have the skype conversation and everything the email i sent the money to will this help

Thank goodness you did not send it as a gift as you have no protection if you did. Oh and you do have gift payment on your paypal account you go to send money > personal tab > gift.

HOWEVER if you selected the goods option and the item was "tangible" eg it has to be sent in the post then you can file for item not received via the resolution tab in your paypal account > put in what has happened and escalate to a claim.

If the item was not tangible you are not covered and may not be able to open a dispute.
