Hi,

I made a purchase at Play-Asia for an item that they said was in stock on their website. After several days of the item not being dispatched I contacted them to find out what had happened. After telling me they didn't have the item in stock after all they could either refund me or I could wait for re-stocking. I chose to have a full refund. and because I paid via paypal I got my refund within 24 hours of asking which I am happy with.

However, when i tried to login to withdrawn the money from my balance I noticed that paypal have taken this money and put it under "placed". They also state that I will be contacted, well I haven't been contacted and I'm quite annoyed that after getting my refund in full paypal feel the need to check into this and deny me access to my own funds. Now I am in a postition where I cannot get my item because I don't have the funds, and also I am going to miss my sons birthday as I cannot get the item untill I get the balance back, what are you doing paypal! Also my mobile app shows I have the balance there but when i try to withdraw it fails saying exceeds overdraw limit. Desktop login shows that the money has been put on placed (temporariry hold) with no explanation why.

Live chat doesn't exist and im just about to email them but thought i'd ask for advice here. Many thanks for listening and any advice would be kindly appreciated.

Regards

Paul

When you send a bank funded Instant Transfer payment, two things happen simultaneously:

- PayPal sends a request to your bank for the funds for the transaction. It takes 3-7 business days for funds to come from your bank.

- PayPal pays the seller up front for you, instantly, so that the seller will not delay in processing your order.

When refund or cancellation occurs for that payment within a few days of it being sent, the funds that PayPal paid up front for you are returned.

However, the funds from your bank account are still in transit. They haven't reached your PayPal account yet.

As soon as those funds clear, they are available for you to use or withdraw.

Thanks you for your detailed response, I had absolutely no idea thats how it worked. Normally when I transfer money it happens instantly and I thought it was my online banking that was just slow to update sometimes. I owe paypal an apology then. Many thanks for your response. I will just have to wait it out untill it clears 😞

Cheers
