About 2 months ago I made a once off payment via paypal which did not require me having an account, it was for a service I wanted to try out. I did so for a month and was not happy with the service I then called my bank to cancel the following month's direct debit, which they promptly did. However I checked my bank account to find out that the second payment has been taken by the company, I have created a paypal account (today) with the hope that I would be able to cancel to this direct debit. I have been unsuccessful at this, this website only explains how to cancel a direct debit is for existing users. PLEASE help?

Hi there,
Thanks for reaching out to the PayPal Community.
When you link financial information to PayPal and complete a Direct Debit mandate, the account will remain linked until cancelled. It does not seem possible for you to have setup a Direct Debit with PayPal unless you had an account opened to do so. Are you sure that you didn't create an account on PayPal previously and setup the agreement?
If you are unsure and wish to investigate it further, PayPal UK customer support can trace the account used with your finance information. Contact them for assistance on that. Otherwise, the bank are the main party in a Direct Debit, therefore they have the power to cancel and block future payments from being initiated from your bank account without PayPal directly - I would also recommend consulting them ASAP to have it cancelled correctly.
Once again, try and locate the account used to create the mandate; consult PayPal customer support if experiencing difficulty doing so and then contact the bank to ensure that the Direct Debit is cancelled - a payment cannot be made whatsoever if the bank have successfully terminated the mandate.
I hope that this is resolved soon for you.
Kind Wishes,
Jason C
