Limited account and unknown transaction

I was sent an email saying my account was limited. I see there is a transaction for $5 to digital ocean. I never hear of them, and I don’t use PayPal. Then I am asked to input my address, phone number, mother’s maiden name, bank details, including credit limit. This is too much information when I have not initiated this. I want to close my PayPal account and be rid of it, it is useless.

Sounds as if its a spoof email, DO NOT CLICK ON OR USE ANY LINK. Read the below to check.

Firstly if the email addressed you as ''Dear Member'' / ''Customer'' / ''Client'' OR your ''email address'' then that confirms its a spoof as paypal would address you by your full name eg Dear John Smith.

Secondly if there was a link OR attachment in that email to ''cancel'' the transaction or ''confirm'' any details then again it would be a spoof.

If there was a problem with your account paypal would not ask you to click on an unsafe link in an email or by downloading an attachment, they would direct you to log in normally and go to the resolution or the message centre for more information.

I just checked and I was addressed to Dear ....email address, so seems it is a spoof. I’m worried because I gave some details before questioning it. Thank you for your help, Jackie

As long as you didn't send those details you 'should' be ok but take precautions dependent on what you told them.
