Help? Payment through friends and family - can the recipient reverse a payment?

I've sent a payment through the friends and family option. The recipient claims that Paypal saw my payment as fraudulent and was asking about me. So the recipient claims the payment was cancelled and has provided a screenshot showing "payment reversed". But none of this shows in my own Paypal account. There, it still just shows as "transaction completed". Is that even possible for the recipient to reverse it?

It is against paypal rules to send a purchase for goods using the f/f option and can result in your paypal account being limited.

BUT its unlikely the seller would have anything to do with that and i think he is making up a story to scam you BUT.

A “gift” (or personal payment) is intended as a transfer of funds from family or friends to one another. For this reason, there is no processing fee when payment is made with bank or PayPal balance.

On the other hand, as it is a “personal” payment, there is also no Buyer protection as no goods or services should have been exchanged.

If he was not a close mate or family member you should never use that option as it enables the seller to evade his paypal fees and negates your buyer protection at the same time. Scam sellers often ask for payment that way as they know this.

You also risk having your account limited for using this option when you are purchasing goods.

Your only hope is if you funded your paypal payment via a credit card then contact your card issuer and see if they will help you.
