Hi can someone help me please. I have just recently went through my bank statements to find a direct debit to paypal payments. l have not authorised a direct debit. This has been going on since 4/3/2016. I have been unwell and was not paying attention to my bank account. I have counted the direct debits up and it comes to around £1040 that has been taken from my account. Some months they have gone into my account 3-4 times a month. paypal are telling me to resolve it with the seller. I havent bought anything!!!!! Please help im at my wits end. TIA, Jane

Hi 1angel1,

I am sorry for any confusion.

If you have a PayPal account and you are making payments using a bank account we use a direct debit to collect the money from your bank. This does not mean that there is a regular payment, money is only taken when you send a payment from your PayPal account.

What I would recommend is checking your PayPal account transactions against the payments in your bank. It takes 2 - 3 working days for money to come out so if you have a PayPal payment on the 1st you should check for the same amount on your statement on the 3rd or 4th.

If you do see a payment on your PayPal account that you didn't authorise you can report this to us through the Resolution Centre of your account.
