Community Hall hire.

I help to manage a Community Hall which is a registered Charity. We have three roooms for hire. A hirer must pay the hire fee, plus a deposit. The deposit is returnable if there is no damage. I am researching paypal as a possible means of managing these payments. Questions...

Can paypal payments be automatically credited to our bank account via BACS. 

What process is available for rerturning deposits. 

What fees will be charged by Paypal.

Yes PayPal payments can be processed directly to and from a UK bank account using the FPS payment option. Are you trying to set up a process where funds are withdrawn to your bank account from PayPal on a recurring basis?

If you receive a payment on PayPal, you will have the option to refund the payment for up to 45 days after the payment has been received. This can be done through the Transaction Details page for any payment you receive.

If you receive a payment from a UK customer to a UK PayPal account, there is a standard fee applied of 3.4% + £0.20 GBP per transaction. You can find more information about our fee rates through the Fees icon at the bottom of any PayPal webpage.

We we would normally seek two payments. One is the deposit, returnable if the venue has no hirer damage. The other is the venue hire fee, which would be transferred to our own bank account. Our hirers include regular ones who pay monthly in arrears, plus ne of hirers. Is there a discretionary rate for Charities or have you already quoted it please?

A UK charity can register a PayPal account and the fees applied would be 1.4% + £0.20 GBP per transaction.
