Automatically given Premier account - signed up for personal.

The title sums up my problem really. I followed the instructions for a personal account, but when I checked my account information after signing up it says I have a premier account.

I looked into the premier account, and it actually seems more suitable for what I want to do - I'm just confused as to why I have it. Also, does paypal charge for their premier accounts? I don't mind paying the transaction fee, but is there a monthly fee or anything like that for a premier account? I don't want to validate the account or add any details in case I'm charged for an account type I didn't want.

Thanks for your help!

There's no charges for Personal, Premier or Business Accounts - basically you only pay fees when you sell something or use a credit card to fund a Send Money transaction or you send money to someone in another country.  Fees are explained here:

https://www.paypal.com/uk/webapps/mpp/paypal-fees

And in the User Agreement:

As for why your account is a Premier instead of Personal, we don't know - you would need to follow-up with customer support and asks them to look into that for you.   If you're not comfortable with a Premier Account, customer support can downgrade you to a Personal however, a Premier Account should work just fine for you - especially if you plan to sell items down the road.
