Are fee's charged on postage costs?

This kind of a two in one question, but I have sold a few items just through paypal and it occured to me that paypal maybe taking money of me for postage costs as well. When I send an invoice it allows you to input the price of the item then add the postage cost and it then totlas it up in a box for you. You then send invoice to buyer and wait for payment, but are paypal charging you fee's on just the item price or the total including postage as well?  The other thing is when people just send money to you through the sale of goods and services, they can't input a seperate postage price you jsut ask them for the grand total inclduig postage and they can only input a final price if they send money to you, that would surley mean I am being charged on postage as well?  If this is the case i think paypal need to do something as it's not fair, how else can we get our parcels across the country or globe?

(It ask's me below to select a baord but only gives three otpions, I clicked, selling ony m website, but i have no website i jsuut sell through facebook selling groups).

You pay paypal to process a 'payment' to you from the buyer. It does not matter how that payment is made up ie goods and postage costs OR just goods costs the fee is worked out on the amount of the total payment.

Why would paypal only charge you a fee for goods and not postage, they are still processing that postage payment for you?
