Purpose Code for Export of Goods in India

Dear All

I am receieving payments through Paypal as advance for my export of Goods. This payment gets credited to my account through CITI Bank. So for clearing shipping bills my home bank i.e. State Bank of India asks for FIRC/Advice from CITI bank. CITI bank FIRC/Advice comes with purpose code P0104.

But since its an advance payment agianst export of goods so my bank is not accepting FIRC and is saying that we can accept this if purpose code would have been P0102 or P0103.

I tried to change the purpose code in my paypal account profile but there is no option except selecting cross border sales of Goods.

Please help.

Hi Grad and Harry

One thing I did last time for getting purpose code changed is I asked my home bank to make a letter towards CITI bank for change of purpose code in FIRC and covered that letter with my letter on my letter head.

I met CITI bank manager with these letters on the same issue, they escalated the matter to higher officials, and after 15 days my home bank got the FIRC with correct purpose code. FIRC was not re printed, previous purpose code was striked off and correct was written above it with proper seal and signature of CITI bank.

My home bank accepted this and cleared my shipping bill.

Since than I am not using paypal for accepting payment. That was the last transaction I did with Paypal.
