Am i suppose to get an account # when i sign up? What do i tell someone to do to send me money?

Nope, PayPal accounts are not identified by account numbers but by the email address you registered your account with.

You can give your email address.

You can send a PayPal invoice to the sender's email address.

You can give your PayPal.me link.

You can send a money request.

You can create a PayPal button and export it as a email link.

Tips:

Beware of fake payment confirmations and always log on to your PayPal account to see if payment is sent first. 

There is no refunds on friends and family payments so only send it to people you know for real outside of the internet, not for buying as there is no purchase protection.
