C2COFFER.COM: safe site? scam? previous problems? how can ebay prevent?

There is an item that I want to buy from this site but it has terrible reviews.  Some people receive trinkets/trash instead of the items bought and can't get their money back even if they paid through paypal.  Also once they receive the faulty item (since it takes some time to ship from China), the user has deleted their account so you can't contact them.  I have received her gmail address, which coincidently is her c2coffer user name @ gmail.com.  This doesn't offer any reassurance since she could just delete the gmail as well. 

 How can paypal help me if any of these situations happen to me? 

Is there any information that I should gather from the seller that would help me later? 

I realized today that I do not even have the sellers "real" name.  Is that an issue?

Keep in mind that the dispute process for an item that is not as described will likely require the return of the item with tracking at your own expense. If you feel that what you know of the circumstances presents a high risk of it being a bad deal, you can opt not to buy. Purchase Protection is a great thing to have when a transaction takes an unexpected turn, but it's no replacement for a good risk/reward evaluation on the front end.

I ordered two pair of soccer shoes from them size 11 one pair black one pair red . Took forever to recieve trying to track shipping didnt work. I canceled payment with paypal they were great. But then after a total of 30 days recieved the shoes just as ordered. Website is a little suspect but I recieved what i ordered. So pay with paypal its like an insurance policy plus your credit card company should offer fraud protection.
