Sent package to Nigeria, any way to get it back???

OK so I really wished I had read these forums BEFORE I sent this package 😞 but I had recieved an email saying that paypal has verified that the person has sent me money and would fund my account with the money once I sent a tracking number, so I did that, and also sent them a picture of the reciept (is that going to cause me even more problems??) and then they told me that in order for the package to be released from customs I have to pay 250.00 to some person through western union, they said that the buyer had been charged and that I would be funded that money once I sent them the tracking number for that.  Now I got REAL suspicious because my paypal account showed no signs of charging the person the extra money... so I called paypal and they told me never to send anything to Nigeria ever, x__x

I should have just called paypal in the first place! In any case I wanted to know if I just never send the money to release the package from customs will it eventually come back to me? Or is it lost forever? I called USPS and they told me they couldn't answer my question and I know many other people have been scammed recently so is there any hope? I really needed that money to pay for my rent, now I don't even have money to buy food. this sucks.

Yikes. Sounds like what someone is trying to do to me. They first gave an address of Tulsa, OK. Then paypal payment confirmation comes w/ a Nigeria address for shipment.

That's it, I'm canceling $ request. Sorry you got **bleep**ed.

This sounds like the same thing that is happening to me.  I was selling a phone and the guy said he was in NYC, and needed me to send the phone to his son in Nigeria, so I went to the post office with all my printouts and talked to the postmaster, and she told me it was a scam!   The guy said that he transfered the $300 into my acct, and I would be receiving the money once I gave them a tracking #! Whew...good thing for the lady at the post office! Good Luck

I had the same problem. The sender came from PA and the shipping address was to Nigeria to her son for a birthday gift. I called Paypals number (which you have to wait on the phone and not say anything and then the live person will come on in about 5 minutes) and I talked to someone and told them the situation and they said that it WAS a scam. You can get the package back, just bring your recpit(sp?) to the place you sent it and tell them there was a mix up and they can get it back for you. Save all your emails you got from paypal and the scammers, print them out, and then just for security delete them from your computer right afterwards, and CHECK YOUR BANK ACCOUNT!!, and then get a **bleep** lawyer.

Oh and also, they can track where the senders are coming from by their IP address so keep that in mind.

OMG!

I SHOULD HAVE READ THIS 7 HOURS AGO. I SENT MY STYUFF TO NIGERIA JUST THIS AFTERNOON AND NOW I CANNOT CONTACT THE USPS OR  PAYPAL JUST YET. IT IS MY FIRST TIME TO SELL ON EBAY AND DEAL WITH PAYPAL AND THIS IS WHAT I AM GONNA GET? MAKES ME REALIZE WHY AFTER ALL THE SHIPPING DETAILS I SENT TO PAYPAL THERE WERE NO  MORE EMAILS AFTERWARDS.

Dont worry you can get it back, just go back to the shipping place FIRST THING when they open up. There is a chance that they might not have sent it out yet too. It was my first time selling on ebay too so I hear you on that one.

YEAH GOOD THING I WAS AT THE POSTAL OFFICE JUST MINUTES BEFORE THEY CLOSED. NOW, I CANNOT SLEEP BECAUSE I HAVE TO CALL UP PAYPAL CUSTOMER SERVICE AT 4AM AND MAKE SURE TO BE AT THE POSTAL OFFICE EVEN BEFORE THEY OPEN!

Ok if you go to the post office you can get your shippment back if you fill out the form "1509" before it leaves the country! Try to do it within 2 or 3 days for the best chances.

Te person I talked to at USPS was not helpful at all with the paperwork I had to fill out to ship the package so I actually didn't fill it out correctly LOL... and so the package is stuck in the Nigeria customs until I give them more info, so instead I just asked them to return the package, hopefully they will x__x

In any case I confronted the buyer and told them what I thought of their dirty scamming ways and they keep trying to deny it, so I told them if they really weren't a scammer they'd just pay the freakin invoice!!! And then they asked me for my phone number and told me they wanted to talk to me to prove they weren't a scammer... HAH **bleep** NO! I know for a fact they could trace me by my number, I was hoping to use their emails to trace them by ISP.  I contacted the police department but since I don't really have that much info on the person... and who knows what their real name is.. I don't know if they can do anything about it.  Just curious were you guys asked to send your package to oscar adoleye? I just wanted to see if we're all being scammed by the same person.
