I think this person is working overtime. I am selling a Pelican case on Craigs list.  Got this, this morning after I had sent him back an email saying I would sell it for $150.  The guy comes back offering me $225 and will pay FedEx shipping which on this item I know would be close to $50 minimum. you can buy it new for around $300.

have to pay for shipment. Get back to me if my approval is granted. I
would like to see the pictures please.

I really thought PayPal would be a safe way of handling a transaction but scammers are taking advantage of whatever means possible.  Safe selling!!

OK, so I got a similar offer to an item i have for sale.  I must be kinda dense.  This individual wants to deposit money in my payPal account before it is shipped or picked up.  What's the risk?... what's the scam?

Here's the scam, as I discovered today.

I was trying to sell an engagement ring set on Craiglist, and got the same offer as you -- asking for my paypal account username/email so they could deposit the money into my account. And I'm supposed to ship the rings to an address in NJ (I live in California), which the person offered me an extra $80 for.

Then I get an email stating they've deposited the money and to ship the item ASAP. And then another e-mail supposedly from 'paypal' saying the money has been deposited and transferred into my account and to ship right away before there's a dIspute.

EXCEPT...when I logged on to my Paypal account (not using the link in the email, but directly), no money had been deposited. And when I sent the email supposedly from paypal (confirming the deposit and asking for shipment) to spoof@paypal.com, it was confirmed by paypal to be a spoof/fraudulent.

What these scammers are preying on is the gullibility/innocence of new Paypal users! They are hoping you fall for the fake email from Paypal saying the funds had been deposited and will ship the merchandise away without checking your real paypal account. I bet you these people are able to defraud quite a few people!

This is new to me -- and I'm absolutely appalled & disgusted. There are no words.
