After updating my operating system to Windows 7, I needed to contact AVG (my online security provider) so I Did a search using Google to find AVG Support. I clicked on a link heades AVG - Support and loads of other bumpf and was taken to this Techvedic site which, I assumed, was AVG. It wasn't , being absolutely green and not a techie I was conned into allowing their engineer to sort out the problem I had, namely a lost registration key. I was told that the reason my 'key' didn't work was due to the presence of 'Spyware', and he would load up two pieces of software, included in the cost of £95.00 plus VAT. At this stage I was panicking, new to Windows 7 and not yet suspicious. It was only when I discovered that the spyware in question was Super ant spyware and CCleaner, both of which are freebies that bells began to ring. As I had agreed to pay via PayPal, I immediately informed PayPal and my bank to stop all payments while I addressed the issue with TechVedic.
Be very careful with search engine results, some are not what they seem
