I received an email and when I try to open the email is locks up my outlook and then opens a window with the following "\\102.112.207.net\6\ss\PAYPALGLOBAL\1\G.4-NS". this will keep happening until I am able to click off the email.
Any ideas as to what is going on.

PayPal emails are VERY slow downloads. They are taking 2 to 5 minutes to download. I get this message whenever I try to open a PayPal Paymment email Contacting: \\102.112.207.net\b\es\paypalgobal\1\G.4-NS . I am using MS Outlook 2010. I have had this problem for 3 days now. Never had it beofre. ONLY PayPal messages are giving me this problem.
Anyone with suggestions how to cure this?

There is a bug (misfeature) in Outlook. If you open up a letter with a background image URL it tries to fetch the image and can lock up when it tries to display the preview window
The work around is to shut off the preview window and then delete the letter. If necessary you can start outlook in safe mode (hold the control key down when starting) to avoid preview.

Great info.
However, what makes more sense -
Every paypal customer who uses outlook has to jump through hoops and reconfigure their system every time they get a message from paypal,
or
paypal fixes their problem?

I do not really think the problem is fixed by deleting the received e-mails... why does outlook then (after I have deleted the mail) try to connect to this URL every time I start it.
At first I thought this is a virus... having no idea how to remove this connection attempts completely! It seems to me that the solution with a change in the hosts file is only a workaround but not really a fix!
I expect PayPal to take up position and provide a manual how to fix this bug in cooperation with Microsoft! This is really a parody for all customers

There is no BUG in Outlook. It is PayPal NOT putting the https:// in their email. Its PayPal's fault.

Anyone having this issue? I found below on the web, is it true should I do it?...
To correct the issue for all PayPal email, edit your hosts file (as administrator) and add the following line. It simply points the invalid domain to a local file, so Outlook will not wait for a timeout to open the email message.
1. Start Notepad as administrator: click the Start button > All Programs > Accessories, right-click Notepad > choose "Run as administrator".
2. Open the hosts file: C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc\hosts
3. Add the folowing line:
127.0.0.1 102.112.2o7.net
4. Save the hosts file and close Notepad.
