Outlook Issue

I received an email and when I try to open the email is locks up my outlook and then opens a window with the following "\\102.112.207.net\6\ss\PAYPALGLOBAL\1\G.4-NS". this will keep happening until I am able to click off the email.

Any ideas as to what is going on.

Hey!  Thanks, but your "fix" has been posted at least 6 times in this thread since it was started last week.  It worked for me for about 2 days than on Saturday it's became almost as bad as before.  Instead of taking 3 minutes to show the email it now takes about 1. .

Hey Guys,

I TOTALLY agree, We should have had this fixed within a day or two at the max at PayPal's end....

But we are doing business and we need to keep our cashflow and customers going.  That's why we posted the "hosts file" fix early on.  It is still working for me but I hear some saying it has begun to fail..I don't know why.  Basically the host file line we added in the fix simply directs the call back to your own PC and it times out (it times out either way, with or without the line, but the added line to the hosts file simply makes this timeout happen quickly)  I can't understand why PayPal has not fixed this issue.  I have been removing the hosts file line daily to test the system and it is still not fixed...  (remember you can't test it on those old emails they will ALWAYS lock up when you open them if the hosts line is not there (actually as I said LONG timeout) because the code is embedded in that email....  So to test is to test each day on a newly receive paypal sale notification and without the hosts file line...  IT IS A PAIN IN THE **bleep**..But what can we do?  We got to continue to make our money right???  Ok guys....hopefully this gets fixed soon.....  I am just happy we have this way to at least spitball some solutions.... Cheers, MarcoGee

The html STILL reads https://102.112.2O7.net/b/ss/paypalglobal/1/G.4--NS/123456?pageName=system_email_PP753 It seems that PayPal does not read these pages, nor the emails that I and many others have sent to them. HEY! PayPal CHANGE THE O TO 0.

And my thanks to MarcoGee for the fix to my HOST file. It continues to work well for me.

How to defeat web bug tracking in
email.

In order for a web bug to track email the email must be
viewed.
Most people view email via a "preview pane" that divides email
into
two windows. The top window usually holds the From, Subject,
Received,
etc and the bottom window displays the selected email. When email
is
viewed this way any email selected is displayed in the "preview
pane".

Clicking a Spam email when using the "preview pane" causes the
Spam
to display in the preview area and informs the Spammer the email
address
the email was sent to is active.

In order to defeat web bug
tracking and have yourself removed as a "valid"
email address from a Spammer's list, we recommend you not display the email
via the "preview pane"
option. If you do not display the email via the
"preview pane" no call is
made to a spammer from a web bug when you delete spam.

How can I
defeat web bug tracking in the Microsoft Outlook Express Email client?

1. Open Outlook Express. If not opened in Inbox by default, click
Inbox
2. Click the View menu
3. Click Layout
4. Locate Preview Pane in
the window that appears and remove the check
5. Click OK

All mail in
the Inbox is now displayed without a preview pane. From, Subject,
Received
etc are displayed and obvious Spam can be removed by clicking once
to highlight and
selecting the Delete button (or right click on the Spam
entry and select Delete)
To view email, double click on the From or Subject
to display in a new window.

Pane by clicking on "Preview Pane"

We all know this Norm.  However, when you have dozens of payment notifications per day, it really is a time saver to scroll through using the preview pane to find the transaction you are looking for.  I should not have to alter my business practices to make up for incompetence on PayPal's end.

That's great.  We should change the way we use out computers because PAYPAL can't (or won't) fix a problem?

The information I posted was only for a workaround the PayPal issue.

I also process many PayPal payments here and I am so frustrated with their incompetence after a week of this.. I wrote them as well and let them know we are all out a lot of time and money trying to work with their problem.. I am still awaiting a reply after 3 days now.

The entire way I have to process now is at least 60% slower and it truly is a handicap now. If there was another way to accept payments I would be first in line..

I don't know if PayPal has instituted a 'fix' that actually works now, or if our hosts file edit is once again working, but I'm seeing emails with no delay this morning!

Sent an e-mail to Ina Steiner, who writes the online newsletter eCommerceBytes News Flash (formerly AuctionBytes News Flash). It's typically issued once or twice a week, and when I hadn't seen any news about this in her latest newsletter, I was puzzled (she's usually right on top of any eBay or PayPal news or issues). I directed her to this thread and said the problem had been ongoing for about a week. Her newsletter was how I found out that eBay was shrinking/deleting photos after a listing closed. How sad is that!

Search for eCommercebytes online. She's also on Facebook: type AuctionBytes in the search box. PayPal won't allow pasting of an e-mail address or URL in these comment boxes.

P.S. Checked off the preview or reading pane in Outlook yesterday. Worked at first, but then the program began to crash again.
