Outlook Issue

I received an email and when I try to open the email is locks up my outlook and then opens a window with the following "\\102.112.207.net\6\ss\PAYPALGLOBAL\1\G.4-NS". this will keep happening until I am able to click off the email.

Any ideas as to what is going on.

Thanks, but I still must be doing something wrong.

My hosts file still always ends up as a .txt file.  How do I avoid this??

Hello,

I know this can be frustrating.  So just take your time.  Can you see the extension?  like .exe or .txt?

These are the steps I am taking.

Type Notepad into the Start and open as administrator.

I am pasting in the following:  127.0.0.1 102.112.2O7.net

Then I am saving the file in C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\HOSTS.

My file appears as a text file but it has no extension.

But when I look in the Properties, it says it is a TXT file.

right click on your 'hosts.txt' file and choose 'rename' from the menu - Click at the end of the filename and backspace until only 'hosts' is displayed then press 'Enter'

If it refuses to save the file, then you have to log in on the built-in administrator account to edit your hosts file.

Here are the instructions for that http://www.petri.co.il/enable-the-windows-7-administrator-account.htm

After you login as administrator do the fix again and it will save properly.

Thanks folks.  I finally got it to work.

I had to clear my DNS cache to get mine to work though.  That step is described below.

How frustrating that Pay Pal doesn't fix this right away.

Thank goodness for the Internet community!!

Ok,

You need to make it so you can see extensions.

Look on the lower lefthand side of your taskbar at the bottom of your screen, if you have quicklaunch on, you will see an icon that looks like a folder. Click once on it (if you do not have quicklaunch on right click the taskbar and go to properties, click on the toolbars tab and checkmark it, quicklaunch) and your file browser will open.  Click on tools, and select folder options.  Then click on View and uncheck hide extensions for known file types.  Click ok and apply to folders.  Go back to the system32\drivers\etc and you should see the extensions now.

Right mouse click on the host.txt file and delete the .txt and save.

I hope this works for you.  🙂

Try this:

With Notepad open and nothing pasted go to File>Open

Then Copy & Paste the following where your curser is already flashing asking for a file name:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\HOSTS

Then select "Open"

Next copy and paste the following at the bottom of this open file and save:

 127.0.0.1 102.112.2O7.net

Hope this helps!

This is a problem for me too.

Why the **bleep** is it taking them days to fix a typo that probably affects thousands of people?

And why does Microsoft not know about this potential vulnerability?
