My payors have paypal accounts and send me payments for their orders. The last payment I received was from the UK for over 600 dollars. Paypal subtracted $26. If I become a merchant and accept payments on my website, from people with PAYPAL accounts, will I get to keep more money?

Welcome to the boards!
PayPal charges a fee based on two things:
Where you're located and if your buyer is in the same country.
In the US, the base rate is 2.9% + $0.30 USD. If those two aren't the same, the fee has an extra 1% added on.
Fees in PayPal are the same whether you sell on your own website or on eBay. Of course, on your own website, you won't pay any eBay seller fees.
